When it comes to having your boiler serviced or repaired, you can never be too thorough when verifying the skills of the person carrying out the work for you. It is better to check and double check than to let an unexperienced engineer carry out important checks and repairs. Fortunately, there are some very simple ways to verify that your boiler engineer is qualified, safe, and experienced if you are willing to ask a few questions before allowing the work to go ahead.
Ask for company credentials
If you are older or live alone, then you will naturally seek to verify that the person on your doorstep is a genuine employee of the company that you have booked with. Before you even book, you should also ensure that the company or individual is well established and has a good history of carrying out work on boiler. A good engineer will not mind proving that they are who they say they are.
All DHS engineers will arrive in branded vans and will be happy to prove that they are genuine employees. We won’t arrive unannounced or in plain vehicles, so you can be sure that you are welcoming an experienced and trustworthy engineer into your home or premises.
Are they Gas Safe?
You have possibly heard of CORGI, but Gas Safe may sound a little more obscure. The Gas Safe register replaced the CORGI register a few years ago, and has similar standards of what all engineers working on boilers, cookers, and other gas appliances must reach.
If you book an engineer to work on your boiler and they can’t produce proof that they are on the register, then don’t let them continue the work until you have verified that they are qualified. It may seem like a small thing, but without Gas Safe, you cannot be sure that it is legal and safe to allow them to work on your boiler.
Accredited installers
It is not strictly necessary to be an accredited installer in order to carry out simple repairs and maintenance. However, it certainly helps to build trust between you and a boiler repair company if they can prove that they are endorsed by a large boiler provider.
All DHS’ engineers are Gas Safe registered and have a wealth of experience in carrying out repairs and boiler servicing in Bristol. We are also Worcester Bosch and Vaillant accredited, so you know that you can trust us to bring expert care and attention to any aspect of boiler care or installation.
