We will start by asking a few questions about the fault and then carry out checks to diagnose the problem. Once we’ve identified the cause, we’ll explain what needs to be done and talk you through the repair, including a fair quote. With your agreement, we can start tackling the issue right away.
What should I check before calling for a boiler repair?
A few quick checks might save you a lot of time or money. Before you call us, have a look at your boiler pressure, thermostat settings, power supply, and whether your boiler is showing an error code. If you smell gas, notice anything unusual, or are concerned about safety, turn the system off and contact us straight away.
Do DHS offer emergency boiler repairs?
We always do our best to respond quickly when you have lost heating or hot water, especially in colder weather. That said, please note that we only operate 8:30am-5:30pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8:30am-5pm Friday.
How do I know whether my boiler should be repaired or replaced?
That usually comes down to the age of the boiler, the type of fault, and how often problems are happening. If the repair is straightforward and your boiler is otherwise in good condition, a repair may be the best option. But if it’s unreliable or getting on in years, replacement may offer better value and peace of mind in the long run. For reference, a boiler should be replaced every 10-15 years.
What should I do if my boiler is making unusual noises?
Unusual noises could be anything from trapped air to a serious fault. If the noise is new, getting louder, or is combined with poor heating performance, arrange for an engineer to take a look. If anything seems unsafe, or you smell gas, switch the boiler off and call a Gas Safe registered engineer immediately.
